Bauhaus Archiv Berlin Three air conditioning duct bends become chairs. Each bend shares its profile with Gropius’s Bauhaus building, the same stepped-back silhouette, the same stacked mass. IBC containers become wardrobes. Printing plates become seating surfaces. Pallets carry these plates. Dunnage bags support backs. LED strips become letters. All materials find their place in a new function seamlessly. The material is deployed with only small, significant modifications, just enough to enable what comes next. Function shifts. Transport becomes sitting. Storage becomes wardrobe. Printing becomes carrying. But memory remains. The duct bend is still duct bend. The IBC tank is still IBC tank…or is it… It’s precisely this recognition that opens conversation. Visitors see what it was, understand what it becomes, and gather to discuss.
